# ElevenLabs: music prompting guide ElevenLabs' guide to writing music prompts: genre, mood, instruments, tempo and era, plus vocals, loops and timing. Key rules: every prompt answers genre, mood, instrumentation, tempo and production era, and anything you leave open is filled with the most average choice; name concrete styles and tempos; describe structure and timing when you need control. Eleven Music v2 and v2.5 (v2.5 is chosen manually; the API default may still be v1 during the transition). Checked 2 Nov 2026.
